Kristi Legg

— 16E Coach

Hello!  My name is Kristi Legg, and I am from Dunbar, WV, and a South Charleston High School graduate.  I currently live in Hurricane, am married to Brandon Shamblin, and have a son, Christopher, nicknamed Peanut.
I played collegiately at WV Tech, where I was a four-year starting setter and was the university’s student-athlete of the year my senior year.  After graduating college, I spent a couple of years coaching at WV Tech, then 10+ years at Winfield High School and Winfield Middle School, where I also started a club volleyball program for the area.
After spending a few years watching my son play tennis in school, I returned to private lessons.  That led me to my current role as the volleyball coach for Calvary Baptist Academy’s middle school and high school teams.  Last year, I joined Mountain Monsters as a coach for the 14Lite team and have since taken on the role of Director of Finance.  I love Coach Kern’s goal for the program to grow the sport of volleyball in our area, and I’m excited for the upcoming season!

Brandon Shamblin

— 16E Coach

Hi, my name is Brandon Shamblin, and I am from the Elkview area.  I graduated from Charleston Catholic High School, where I was a baseball and basketball player, and I still hold school and state records.  I played baseball at Concord University and went on to graduate from Marshall University.
For the past four years, I have been coaching middle school and high school volleyball at Calvary Baptist Academy and joined the Mountain Monsters coaching staff last year to help encourage our CBA players to expand their volleyball experience outside school season.
When I’m not playing or coaching volleyball, I spend much of my time in the weight room, pushing myself to the next fitness level and coaching my wife in her powerlifting efforts.  This has allowed the two of us to pursue an opportunity with WVSU Volleyball as one of the strength and conditioning coaches.  This upcoming season, I will be working with Mountain Monsters to bring a strength and conditioning program to the players.
